SSE welcomes the decision today by the European Commission to grant state aid approval for the Capacity Market. We believe the Capacity Market plays an essential role in ensuring security of supply as we transition to a net zero future.
SSE will now work with the Department for Business Enterprise and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the Electricity Settlements Company and other appropriate stakeholders, to ensure that supplier payments covering the standstill period are made in a timely manner, and that payments are made retrospectively to providers of capacity over that period.
