SSE’s Fiddler’s Ferry power station welcomed friends, family and the community to join then for some festive wreath-making ahead of December 25.
The event, held at the site’s Education Resource Centre, was attend by more than 70 people, who made the ornaments from natural materials found on the nature reserve.
SSE employees based at the station also made sure that there were lots of Christmas arts and crafts available to keep young and old entertained, with Santa even taking time out of his busy schedule to hand out gifts.
Gemma Davies, Education Resource Centre Manager, said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed the event and I have been receiving emails of thanks from parents and colleagues since the event. The Education Centre was full of glitter, holly and mince pies and the children were very excited when Santa arrived to hand out a little gift.
“All the youngsters made and decorated a snow globe each to take home along with hand made Christmas cards, fridge magnets, cup holders, robin puppets and natural tree decorations, but the most popular activity was the wreath making. The annual event is always fully booked, I wish I could accommodate more of the local community since it is so popular and well received. Some of the local community have told me that it is one of their ‘run up to the big day’ family highlights.”
