Local kids who live near SSE's Fiddler's Ferry power station are having a thoroughly spooky time today as they help prepare for the SSE plant's Educational Resource Centre annual Halloween party.
SSE Centre Manager Paul Cockcroft said:
"Everyone at the Fiddler's Ferry Educational Resource Centre is delighted Halloween is finally here. We've got some seriously gory and ghostly trick or treaters in today getting their pumpkins ready for party fun. So far we've been terrified by some zombies, vampires, skeletons and witches - all here to haunt the resource centre on the most terrifying night of the year!"
The aim of the Fiddler's Ferry Educational Resource Centre, located within the site of the 2000Mw SSE Warrington-based coal fired power station, is to provide a learning hub for people in the local community. The centre normally welcomes groups of children who visit to understand more about energy, electricity and sustainability. It also provides a useful community space and resources for educational activities like nature trails, wind turbine model making and the ever-popular wormery discovery experience - all for free.
Paul continued:
"Today is a slight break from the norm as we host a party of Halloween monsters but the dedicated SSE personnel who work at the centre year-round will ensure positive learning experiences still underpin the event."
