SSE and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service - joint follow up statement on incident at Ferrybridge C Power Station:
"At around 2.00pm yesterday (Thursday) a serious fire impacted Units 3 and 4 of SSE's Ferrybridge C power station in West Yorkshire.
"The Company's practised emergency response procedures were immediately activated, with all staff accounted for and no injuries reported. Emergency services were in attendance.
"Overnight West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, together with the other emergency services, remained at site and continue to deal with the incident with support from SSE engineers.
"As of this morning the fire has been brought under control, and the site is now secure. All persons remain accounted for with no injuries reported.
"Ferrybridge staff are working closely with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency services today to assess what has happened and to determine next steps.
"West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service would like to commend SSE staff for their support during the incident which helped ensure the site was made safe as quickly as possible. Thanks are also extended to the Environment Agency, police and the ambulance service.
"We will provide further updates when additional details become available."
