Ferrybridge Hydrogen

Ferrybridge Hydrogen is a proposed green hydrogen production facility being developed by SSE Thermal at the site of the former Ferrybridge C Power Station in Ferrybridge, West Yorkshire.

The initial expected 50MWe facility will deliver hydrogen to industrial offtakers in the locality to support them to decarbonise their operations, helping to secure and grow jobs in the region.

Ferrybridge Hydrogen will look to play an important role in the UK’s future energy mix as hydrogen-fuelled generation will have a critical role to play in achieving a clean power system by 2030.

Feasibility studies have been completed and design and site investigation works are underway. A planning application is expected to move forward in 2025 ahead of any final investment decision being made.

We want your feedback on our proposals

You can help to shape our proposals by telling us what matters to you and your community. This includes your ideas to reduce or mitigate impacts during construction and operation or how the Project could benefit the community.

Please join us at one of the below drop-in sessions to hear more about our plans:

- Willow Green Academy (Hampden Close, Knottingley) on Thursday 13th February between 2pm and 8pm.

- Brotherton Parish Hall on Wednesday 26th February between 2pm and 8pm.

There is no need to register attendance; please come along during these times at either date/ location to speak with a project team member, at your convenience.
