As part of our transition to a low-carbon energy future, SSE Thermal closed its last coal-fired power station, the landmark Fiddler's Ferry station in Warrington, Cheshire, in 2020. The company's other coal-fired power station, the equally iconic Ferrybridge C in West Yorkshire, officially shut its doors in 2016.
