During spring 2024, we carried out a six-week consultation in the area around the Great Island Power Station site to give stakeholders the opportunity to provide their thoughts and ideas and for us to capture this feedback. We are working with communities to and stakeholders to help shape the plans.

The findings of this consultation have been collated into a report which is available here.

Priority areas for the Great Island Fund

The Great Island Community Fund will give priority to applications in closest proximity to the station and those from the areas of Cheekpoint and Great Island/Campile. Priority will also be given to those projects that deliver on themes, identified during consultation:

  • Biodiversity, natural environment and habitat enhancement, including play areas and parks
  • Service provision, such as local clubs, events, activities or groups, including female participation in sport
  • Energy efficiency and reduction of energy use

The Community Investment Fund is part of a wider Community Investment Package of commitments, plans and activities that will help us to work more closely with the communities in which we already operate to help enhance the lives of local residents, school children, young people, businesses and the environment.
