Great Island Community Fund

The SSE Thermal Community Investment Fund for Great Island/Campile is currently closed for applications. If you have applied to the fund, we will contact you about your application in due course.

We expect to reopen the fund for applications in early 2025.

Investment fund consultation findings

During spring 2024, we carried out a six-week consultation in the area around the Great Island Power Station site to give stakeholders the opportunity to provide their thoughts and ideas and for us to capture this feedback. We are working with communities to and stakeholders to help shape the plans.

Priority areas for the Great Island Fund

When open for applications, the Great Island Community Fund will give priority to applications in closest proximity to the station and those from the areas of Cheekpoint and Great Island/Campile. Priority will also be given to those projects that deliver on themes, identified during consultation:

  • Biodiversity, natural environment and habitat enhancement, including play areas and parks
  • Service provision, such as local clubs, events, activities or groups, including female participation in sport
  • Energy efficiency and reduction of energy use
